  • Condition: Fair-Good overall vint cond: Manufactured post-WWII in Philadelphia, PA by the Webster Silver Co. It features a stamped & clearly marked sterling silver bell rattle, held to the variegated white opalescent bakelite teething ring by a stamped sterling silver clasped belt. It's also has a clear 'sterling' stamped mark, as well as a stylized 'WEB' maker's mark, which is the mark used by the Philadelphia, PA silver firm, the Webster Silver Co. The sterling silver (.925) bell rattle still has an int silver ball which makes a high-pitched, sweetest sounding bell chime noise. The silver bell itself has what appears to be bite marks from the previous young American citizen who once clamped down on the bell w/its new teeth. This wonderful mid-20th c cultural artifact would've distracted the teething baby in one of 2 ways, w/the noise it created & w/the reflective surfaces of both the sterling silver & the smooth, shiny opalescent bakelite teething ring. Made w/great skill & craft. Beautiful.
