VTG Ceiling Light Holophane w/ Crouse-Hinds Mount Wired w/Ground Strain Relief UL Socket
Prismatic Holophane, occasionally referred to as an "Acorn" Holophane . . . given its unique shape. Some of these shades have a decorative aluminum band; others do not.  The band on this well-preserved shade has a nice, soft pewter luster that complements its original Crouse-Hinds mount. Fixture dimensions are ~ 8.5" wide x 11.0" high. This circa 1940 Holophane shade is in exceptional condition; rim is perfect with no discernible chips.  Shade "seats" snugly against the fixtures new, die-cut gasket.
Light is suspended with a Kellem-style, mesh strain relief that GRIPS the new, 3-wire cord to eliminate any stress (or "strain") on the electrical connections within.
Fixture is wired with a solid ground lead and a full 64" of cord.  Supplied hardware permits easy installation; fixture may be suspended from ceiling from ~ 19" to 69" with the supplied 3-wire cord. A cord "grip", threaded into the fixture's ceiling plate, eliminates strain on the wiring connections within the ceiling box.  The supplied electrical box cover facilitates easy installation to a standard ceiling electrical box with 3.5" hole spacing.
This jewel-like shade was designed to project about 60% of its light outward and downward, making it an efficient lighting choice for kitchen lighting or any task area. The Crouse-Hinds mount utilizes a standard socket, enabling use of any medium-base LED, incandescent, or CFL bulb.  A complimentary, 60w Edison-style bulb is included. I have multiple shades of this type with a variety of Crouse-Hinds or Holophane mounts.
This is a classic Holophane shade that has been in production since the 1920's, and it's as timeless now as it was then.
