    Description

With its heavy-duty cast-iron housing and BIG, elegant 8" round glass globe, this fixture simply oozes the aesthetic of 1940s industrial America. Listing begins with 3 identical vintage original Goodrich lighting fixtures, priced individually. The fixture is in remarkable condition, with its globe completely free of damage, its housing as solid as the day it left the factory, and its new Leviton glazed-porcelain socket in perfect working order. The only evidence of its 80-year existence is its worn original green paint, providing a pleasant patina. The scant remaining paint, and the cast-iron housing it's applied to, have been treated to preserve their current state. (These fixtures are identical to the other listing we have that began with 16 fixtures, except these three have new sockets, and slightly less original green paint. If you need more than three fixtures, these appear on the outside practically identical to those in the other listing.)
We always put safety first and foremost, so the fixture's original asbestos gasket was carefully removed and replaced with a new, machine-cut, cork/nitrile rubber gasket that provides a nice cushion between the iron housing and glass globe. It also ensures that the globe will always twist easily off the housing and never bind. The fixture was completely rewired, with a solid ground wire added to comply with today's electrical codes.
Note the photo showing the 8" globe alongside a 12-oz. beverage can to show the globe's large size in proper perspective. Most older explosion-proof fixtures have 6"-or-smaller globes; those look nice, but they just don't compare to the stunning appearance of the 8" globes or the scaled-up housings that hold them. Because these big 8" globes have a 5-1/4" opening at the threaded end, you can outfit the fixture with the larger-size "Edison" bulbs, like the one shown in the photos, to further "amp up" the fixture's impressive looks. If you want to make a statement this fixture delivers!
Like all of our vintage industrial fixtures, this is the "Real McCoy," an antique refurbished with great care (as described below in greater detail) to work safely and dependably for many decades to come. Three feet of new wiring was added to give you flexibility in how far it hangs from your ceiling. You can easily swap out its current 6" down pipe with a 1/2" iron pipe of any length available at any hardware store. The fixture also includes a swiveling-type flexible ceiling hanger for easy mounting to your ceiling junction box. The hanger ensures the fixture hangs plumb and gives it some "give" should it be accidentally bumped. The medium-base socket accepts any regular, household bulb (incandescent, CFL, or LED). If purchasing an LED bulb, make sure it's rated for use in an enclosed fixture (the packaging will say so).

Buy with confidence knowing that all of our vintage industrial light fixtures are:
    *Refurbished to the highest standards.
We carefully disassemble each fixture down to the smallest screw, then refurbish each part. For example, all electrical contact surfaces are cleaned and restored, threaded surfaces are "chased" with taps and dies, and lubricants applied sparingly where needed. We keep the fixtures fully original, only replacing parts when corrosion, functionality, or safety concerns dictate a new part, such as a new stainless steel screw in place of an old rusted one, or a new gasket in place of an old asbestos one.
*Restored and preserved to retain their natural and intrinsic vintage look.
We don't "wring the romance" from fixtures by excessively removing all traces of patina. Instead, metal surfaces are cleaned lightly but completely while preserving the natural patina gained over decades. The parts are then treated to retain the patina and prevent future corrosion.
*Tested and guaranteed to work perfectly.
Before any fixture leaves our workshop it is tested to ensure it works properly. Please check our flawless feedback.
*Packaged extremely well for safe arrival and shipped within 24 hours.
We've shipped vintage light fixtures all over the world with no damage incidents. That's because we use plenty of quality packing materials, and know through years of experience how to pack. Our packing practices meet or exceed the standards established by FedEx, UPS, and USPS.
