    Description

PRICE REDUCED!  This unique pattern, "BACCHUS"  is quite rare. The jewelry technique utilized to create this work of art is called "hand chasing" and is very time consuming and difficult to achieve. This design was one of the first designs by the silversmiths at Shreve & Companies' San Francisco studio in the mid 19th century. The bread platter, is sterling silver 925 and weighs 18 oz.  measures 131/4"long  x 8" wide x 2" deep. It is in excellent condition but does have some very minor scratches on the bottom, consistent with age.
It has been in my personal collection for 20 years. I acquired the San Francisco estate of a man named Emil Jensen who passed in 1936. the estate passed from Emil to his daughter who passed in her 90's, in 1998 ten I bought the remainder.  Emil Jensen emigrated to San Francisco in 1880 from Denmark. Emil was an adventurer and a merchant seamen which is where he made the acquaintance of a young man working the docks named Jack London. The provenance of this piece is impeccable and will make a wonderful topic of conversation at your dinner table.  Buyer pays shipping, all sales are final. If there is a problem,  I would be happy to work it out. Mahalo for your business.
