Dreamcast Controller Port Full Refurbish Kit. Read the full description.Do you have a Dreamcast that the Clock won’t stay set? When you connect your controller, will it lay there unresponsive, unable to connect? Do you just want to do a bit of preventative maintenance and upgrade your system? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then this is the kit for you.
What’s included:
-A Fresh ML2032 3v Rechargeable Battery - This is the same spec battery as what was in your system to begin with, just brand new and ready to start cycling. Be wary of other kits offering CR2032s and LIR2032s. While they look similar, the CR2032s don’t charge and run the risk of exploding when placed inside the Dreamcast’s recharging circuit. LIR2032s recharge, but they output at too high of a voltage which can cause long term damage to your system.
-An easy no solder battery holder - Swap this bad boy in in place of the soldered pins holding the old soldered in battery. You do have to solder this component in the first time, but once you do, you’ll never have to solder/desolder your battery ever again if you decide to, or have to replace it.
-A Self-Resetting Fuse - 72v - Replaces the resistor fuse usually labeled F1 on the board. If your control ports aren’t responding, this is most likely your culprit. Due to a combination of age and 3rd party controllers pulling too much power, the original fuse just wasn’t built for longevity. Eventually this fuse will blow, bricking your controller ports until it’s replaced. Enter the resettable fuse. This guy can handle a slightly higher power level than the part it’s replacing, so all your third party accessories should work just fine, as well as your original gear. The coolest part about this fuse? If it blows, no problem! Just turn off the console for a few seconds and it resets itself, no need to replace it.
- A Fresh Slim-Line Capacitor - 10v 47uf - Capacitors get old and fail. It’s just part of the circle of life. While you’re making repairs to everything else, may as well swap this out too to make sure your Dreamcast is going strong for years to come! This capacitor has the same specs as the part it replaces, but only a fraction of the size!
- Battery Charge Resistor - 12v -This part replaces fuse R1 on the board, and it’s basically part of the battery’s recharging circuit. Age catches up to any part, and the same is true with this component. If it fails, swap in all the batteries you want, but your clock battery won’t recharge. Swap in this component to give the recharging circuit the gift of youth and longevity. The resistor I include with this IS NOT to the original specifications, but I prefer this resistor due to its size, ease to work with, and it provides a very stable power trickle to the battery. It does recharge just a hair slower than the original specs, but I find it to be more stable in the long term. A slightly slower charge usually translates to a longer operative life for the battery.
