Cigar Box Guitar’s (CBG’s) have been around for over 100 years. They became popular during the Great Depression as people needed Music to soothe their souls. They were built with whatever materials that could be found. Did you know? Many Famous Groups like Bo Diddley, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top and even Paul McCartney (from the Beatles, circa, 1964-1970’s) used Cigar Box Guitars in their performances, bringing back a modern Revival.
What Does GpaD stand for? Grandpa Dwayne Shepard "GpaD" as he is lovingly called by his grandchildren, fell in love with Cigar Box Guitars thru his desire to combine his woodworking abilities with his love for music. Each guitar he creates is unique.
Although he may re-create one with a similar motif you can be assured there will be no two alike.
Both Acoustic and Electric, GpaD guitars allow you to create a multitude of sounds and can be played as lead, chords, or as a slide guitar. The 24-inch scale, 23 fret neck provides warm tones but still allows for those old time sounds. Dwayne tunes his guitars to GDG which allows every fret to play a chord. With each guitar we included, a pick, and basic instructions on how to play your CBG.
