Cigar Box Ukulele
This handmade tenor sized Ukulele plays great, the box has an excellent resonance, loud enough to play it unplugged. The fret board is very comfortable with good action.
This is an acoustic/electric instrument with a piezo pickup under the bridge, you can plug it into an amp using a regular guitar cable.
Ukulele details:
Body: I used a "SUNGROWN SHADE Rebirth Cigars" Box The box measures 12 x 6 x 2.5 inches It has a beautiful tone, either acoustic or amplified. I flip the box and use the bottom of it at the ukulele "top" and resonance board. Through the sound hole you still see the box art inside of it. The box has an excellent sound. I flip the box and use the bottom cedar part of the box as the uke top, this side of the box is 100% cedar wood and provides excellent resonance. The box lid and its beautiful graphics are now the back side of the Uke.
Neck and fingerboard: The neck is made okoume wood and the fingerboard from rosewood.
Scale: 17 inches scale from nut to bridge
Total Length is 26 inches
Strings: Nylon - clear
Frets: It has 18 frets, no buzzing, and excellent playability. the action is low enough to play comfortably.
Amplification: it has a piezo rod pick up under the saddle. It is a passive pickup, no batteries needed. It sounds amazing!
Finish: I use several coats of shellac, it brings up the natural beauty of the wood.
Tuners: closed style, geared machine heads, tuning pegs. Chrome
