Parts Kit
Have Some Fun; Build it Yourself!
Acoustic with Piezo Pickup, as shown, with
everything you need!
With Desirable
all Wood
Cigar Box with a thinner wood top to deliver that special tone. We do not use decorated craft boxes or cardboard as a substitute for the real thing!
This kit comes with a box that once held cigars. The cigar box may have minor dings and scratches, and also may have labels left over from its former life. Our neck is unfretted with 17 fret positions for a 24¾” scale length. Our neck is already pre slotted for your fret wire! You have the choice – do you want fretted, fretless or slide? Up to you! Slots are .023” if you choose to fret it yourself.
What is Required of You?
Just your imagination, a little time, some basic hand tools, glue and paint / stain of your choice. You will also need some basic knowledge and a few mechanical skills. The final design and embellishments are left totally up to you so you can make it your own.
We do not provide plans for the kits because there are so many ways to finish the guitars. We let you work within your imagination to design the guitar you want!
This Cigar Box Guitar Kit is inexpensive, great for first-timers as well as pro builders, and a wonderful project for you to craft a cool instrument. No matter what your skill level, this guitar will be a compliment to your playing style; country, rock, blues, or pop.
This is not a finished product; it is a kit that requires assembly.
Complete Parts Kit as shown includes:
1 all Wood Cigar Box
1 Oak neck with jumbo fret wire for nut, all fret slots cut, as shown
1 nut and saddle that is blank (blank means shaping and slotting are required)
1 Cigar Box Guitar Hinge Tailpiece
4 Brass sound holes as shown
3 keys, shipped loose
1 Piezo Pickup with Jack
6 guitar strings (you choose which 3 to use)
For your information: Lighter gauge strings are generally easier to play, easier bending of notes but these strings break more easily, have less volume and prone to cause buzzing, especially on guitars with low action.
Heavier gauge strings are generally harder to play, require more finger pressure to fret and bend notes but they produce more volume and sustain notes longer.
We reserve the right, without prior notice, to make minor changes for quality.
NOTE: Our Catoctin Mountain Music Cigar Box Guitar Kits are hand-made so there may be blemishes. That's part of the charm and character of a Cigar Box Guitar. If you require any further information or have any issues with setting up your guitar, drop us a line. We’ll be happy to help.
