Cigar BOX GUITAR-3-string Grade AA  flamed maple+ Ebony (BEAUTIFUL) BY G.J.M. . Condition is New.this is a extremely nice c.b.g with a hand carved and profiled neck made from nice grade AA flamed and a fretboard from top quality grade A  Ebony   .. ebony is one of the most beautiful, dense durable tonewoods in the world. it is also one of the most expensive woods in the world and is highly prized and desirable it has been used for centuries on many of the best and most iconic instruments ever built. in the opinion of many professionals luthiers it is the very finest wood available for stringed instrument fretboards. This particular ebony fretboard has some beautiful figuring. This particular type of figure is pretty rare and typically ebony like this is extremely expensive.   it isn't overstating to say ebony is legendary in the world of stringed instruments...   flamed mapled is a exceptional beautiful  hardwood with stunningly attractive figuring and excellent tonal properties. I can not overstate how rare it is to see highend tonewoods like this on a cigarbox guitar. Most are made from cheap economy woods usually from the local hardware or home improvement store.woods like pine, poplar,or oak.these types of woods are not really suited for guitar building yet for some reason this seems perfectly acceptable to most c.b.g builders? Not to offend anyone but the truth is most c.b.g.s are built by amatuer builders who probably don't know anymore about building guitars than you do.i know many people are into crudely built instruments that they can just hang on the wall and look at. if that is what your into cool.there are probably several hundred listed right now you can choose from. if you are someone looking for something quite a bit better. A well built instrument that looks good and actually plays well and sounds good then this might be the instrument for you. I have years of luthier experience building all types of stringed instruments. I started building c.b.g.s. because i like them,i think there cool instruments, but i also felt no one would ever take them seriously as a instrument or view them as anything but a novelty untill more people started to build quality instruments. I build mine with the same care and quality as any custom instrument builder.they are guitars that just happen to use a cigar box as a body.not just a board attached to a box.because honestly that is all most c.b.g.'s are. This instrument features a good quality American made single coil magnetic pickup. Not the cheap Chinese economy pickups usually found on cigarbox guitars.it has 250k
Volume and tone pots and a output jack all hand wired and soldered point to point. The frets are properly installed, leveled, crowned and dressed. The most important and critical aspects of building a good playing instrument but this  crucial process is usually overlooked or completely skipped by most c.b.g builders. I have seen hundreds of videos of supposed cigar box building experts and i have yet to see a single one who knew how to do a proper fret job.the fretwire use on this is top quality 18%nickel silver medium sized fretwire from the top fretwire produced in the u.s.a.   15 fret positions.   the tuning heads are closed sealed gear tuners. not the cheap economy open gear tuners on most c.b.g.s with plastic buttons that slip, strip, and do not stay in tune.the position markers are inlayed front and side.not burnt on,or painted on or stickers or
Nails hammered into the fretboard or any of the other methods amatuer builders use.the last thing anyone should do is hammer nails into a fretboard! This also comes equipped with very nice strap buttons and a hardtail bridge .the bridge saddles are each individually adjustable for both action and intonation so you can dial this in to suit pretty much any playing style.the box itself is a extremely nice all wood padron box made of spanish cedar. this type of wood is the same used on many very expensive acoustic instruments. the box has a custom multi application finish. This guitar comes strung and tuned to open G but you can also tune it standard or anyway you may prefer.
Take a good look at the pics.  Do some comparison. I encourage you too. You probably won't see another like this one. I have never seen another cigarbox guitar with a flamed maple neck and a ebony fretboard.      These are exceptional tonewoods usually only found on highend custom instruments that cost thousands of dollars.
i really cannot overstate how rarely you see a cigarbox guitar built this well and with tonewoods of this quality.
This is a tremendous opportunity to purchase a extremely nice c.b.g  at a incredibly reasonable price. There are many
Listed at twice this price and more that are not near this in quality or construction. This instrument was vintage tooled.
if your not familiar with the term it means it was built entirely with the same high quality luthier tools and most of the same techniques used by master luthiers of the 40's 50's and 60's during the golden age of guitar building when most of the greatest and iconic instruments were made.
One last note ... if you are purchasing this or considering purchasing this be away of what it is your buying!
This is a exceptionally nice cigar box guitar probably one of the finest of this type instrument you are ever likely to see. But it isn't meant to be compared to a 5 thousand dollar les Paul or custom shop fender stratocaster.
I have to state this even though it should be obvious to most people because i once had someone say my instruments were very nice but not as good as his custom les Paul. Obviously that isn't a fair comparison to make . if it were as nice i would be asking 00.00 for it instead of 5.00
This is exactly as advertised a very well built and playable cigar box guitar well worth the asking price.
