    Description

Rare early 19th-century American silver bottle holder, with exquisite engraved toolwork depicting a hunting scene. Based on the mark – the letters “VS” above what looks like the number “39” – the work can be attributed to silversmith Vincent Sixte of Philadelphia, and it dates from the 1830’s, as identified in Seymour Wyler’s “Book of Old Silver." Stunning handiwork, especially rare with a hunting tableau. The amber bottle, with stopper, is likely not what was originally held, but it pairs well. Total dimensions, with bottle, are 7.75” high, 3” at bottom base. The holder itself measures 3” across, 2.75” high. Undoubtedly rare. In excellent condition.
